Best Football Prediction Pool Apps for Friends (2026), Compared
Search for an app to run your group’s football pool and every result claims the same three things: free, set up in two minutes, the best one out there. Then the free tier turns out to cap at ten people, the “live” leaderboard only moves once the match is over, or the scoring rule you wanted is not adjustable at all.
This comparison is written by the people who make one of these apps — Quini — so read it with that label attached. That is why we list real prices, say where the competition beats us, and link to each company’s own pages so you can check. Verified in July 2026; prices change, so confirm before you pay.
This is social play between friends: none of these apps moves money for you. What gets handed out at the end is bragging rights.
How we compared them
Five criteria, chosen because they decide whether a pool survives past matchday three:
- Real price — one-time, per season, or monthly.
- Free player limit — how many friends before you pay.
- Custom scoring — can the organizer set the points, or is the formula fixed?
- Live leaderboard — does the table move during the match, or after it?
- Chat — is the banter inside the pool, or back in the group chat?
Superbru — the biggest name, the most rigid rules
Twenty-plus years old, millions of registered players, and the best editorial operation in this space. Free with ads; Superbru Premium is USD 3.49 per month or USD 38.28 a year, which buys an ad-free experience, their Insights email, and five extra pools per tournament on top of the ten free users get.
Where it loses for a friends pool: custom scoring. Their own help centre explains that per-pool scoring rules would likely cause confusion, so the points formula is the platform’s, not yours. Leaderboards update as results are processed, not minute by minute. The subscription is recurring, and it is English-only.
Kicktipp — the deepest rules, and the most generous free tier
The German veteran, and the one place we will tell you straight that they beat us: nobody has deeper organizer rules. Underdog bonuses, per-goal deductions, bonus questions, tendency versus exact-score variants — it is twenty years of accumulated options.
It is also free for up to 300 players, the most generous free tier in this comparison. Paid tiers exist for ad-free play and large organizer accounts.
The trade-off is that it feels like a desktop product with a mobile app bolted on. Messaging is board-style rather than in-pool chat, there is no Survivor format, and outside German-speaking Europe the brand means nothing.
Picks4All — free, simple, and no card
Free for up to 20 players, no credit card, custom scoring and deadlines. If your group is small and you want zero friction, this is a genuinely good free option. Lighter on the social layer, and a smaller operation than the names above.
Prodefy — read the price twice
Markets itself as free up to 15 players, and it is capable: chat with reactions, live scores, hidden picks until kickoff. Worth knowing first: the iOS listing carries in-app purchases from USD 4.99 up to USD 49.99, so “100% free” describes the entry tier, not the ceiling. Standings update after each match rather than during it, and there is no web app.
RunYourPool — solid, but you pay again every season
A US office-pool institution with a real Survivor product. The model is the catch: the commissioner pays per pool, per season — free through the first week, then a fee that comes back around every year. Football is one sport among many here, and the culture is American office pool rather than football group chat.
Quini — built for what happens during the match
Ours. PRO is a one-time unlock from around USD 9.99 — not per season, not monthly — and we handle none of your group’s money, ever.
What is genuinely different: the leaderboard moves while the match is playing, not after it. There is chat inside the pool, so the banter lives where the table does. There is voting on events during the match, which we have not found in any competitor here. And our Survivor format uses a rule worth knowing: a draw keeps your life — you only lose one on a loss. Some Survivor formats eliminate you on a draw, so check which one you are joining. Web, iOS and Android.
Where we lose: our free tier is the smallest on this page. If free-player count is your only criterion, Kicktipp at 300 or Picks4All at 20 beats us and we will say so.
The criterion nobody lists
Check the age rating on the store listing before you pick. Several apps here are rated 18+, usually because they track entry fees and who has paid. That has a real consequence: an 18+ app quietly rules out the office pool, the classroom, and any group with a teenager in it. If your group is mixed, that one line matters more than the feature grid.
So which one?
- Biggest group, zero budget: Kicktipp.
- Small group, no card, no fuss: Picks4All.
- Multi-sport, big public leaderboards: Superbru.
- You want the pool to feel alive during the match — live table, chat, in-match voting, Survivor with the draw rule: us.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a genuinely free app for a football pool with friends? Yes. Kicktipp is free up to 300 players and Picks4All up to 20, with no card required. Most others cap the free tier around 10 to 15.
Which apps let the organizer set the scoring? Kicktipp offers the deepest options, and Picks4All and Quini let you set the rules. Superbru does not — their help centre says per-pool scoring would cause confusion.
Do any of these handle the pool money? Quini does not, by design. Some apps do track entry fees and who has paid, which is generally why those listings carry an 18+ age rating.
What is a Survivor pool? You pick one team per round; the last person standing wins. Formats differ on draws — in Quini a draw keeps your life, and you only lose one on a loss.
Pick the one that fits your group, not the one with the loudest homepage. If you want the pool to be alive while the football is, create yours on Quini and have it running before the weekend.
